The Donner Party

No, not that Donner Party--we headed to Donner Lake for 5 days and 4 nights over the Christmas holiday and enjoyed a white Christmas in a cabin overlooking the lake. We were there with family and had a lot of fun walking, sledding, playing in the snow and making cookies for Santa. Although, we think that Jackson ate his weight in "Mimi's sugar cookies" over those 5 days and it was apparent from the shortened naps and late bed-times that the sugar had gone straight to his head. However, Jackson was gracious enough to leave two cookies and a glass of milk for Santa and his reindeer.

Attached are a few pictures and videos from our Donner fun!

Pictures at the Capitol

We had a fun morning at the Capitol back in November when we had our family portraits done. Our photographer, Stephanie who owns Out Loud Photography was amazing and had obviously interacted with toddlers many times before. She kept Jackson entertained, happy and smiling and was able to capture some absolutely adorable and priceless pictures for us. We had so much fun taking these and thought we would share a few of our favorites.

The Protzman's are here

Pete's sister Clare, her husband Casey and their
adorable boy Carter are in town from Alaska so Jackson has thoroughly enjoyed playing with a
little boy around his age.

As Yaya and Bob watched Carter and Jack, the parents escaped for a few hours for drinks and appetizers.

Thanksgiving Extravaganzas!

We definitely have a lot to be grateful and thankful for and instead of just celebrating a Thanksgiving day, we celebrated a 3-day Thanksgiving holiday and Mimi's birthday. It all began early Thanksgiving morning when all three of us loaded up and participated in the 5k Run to Feed the Hungry which is an annual event put on by the Sacramento Food Bank. This year there were over 31,000 people who donated money and participated in the run/walk.

After this very moving and special event, we headed over to Yaya and Bob's for turkey, stuffing and all the fixins'. Jack thoroughly enjoyed rolling the dough and buttering the biscuits that were absolutely delicious.

The next morning we headed to Redding for a few days with Mimi, Brent, Auntie Jessica, Uncle Randy and our cousin Zane. We enjoyed their Thanksgiving leftovers and then Saturday morning daddy, Brent Randy, Jamie and his brother Peter loaded up our truck and headed to Junction City at 4.30am for a day of steel-head fishing and freezing in 23 degree temperatures. But it was all worth it when daddy caught a great looking fish and actually took a picture to prove it. That afternoon we attended our Sousa reunion where Jack had a ton of fun playing with all of his cousins and mommy and daddy enjoyed chatting, drinking and hanging out with family as well.

Sunday morning was Mimi's birthday and we celebrated with breakfast and presents before we departed home. What a great holiday!
